MAVO LF

Kinefinity MAVO LF uses advanced color processing architecture and a whole new CMOS image sensors to achieve super low-noise, high dynamic range. Whether it is the S35 format version of MAVO or the large-format version of MAVO LF, the 6K cameras can bring stunning details and organic images. Kinefinity MAVO LF with his large-format sensor provides cleaner images, wider viewing angles, shallower depth of field, and more immersive presence for cinematographers.

The Kinefinity MAVO LF features a dual native iso (800 & 5100 iso) full-frame CMOS image sensor, with a physical  size of 36x24mm, resolution is over 6K: 6016×4016. Compared to the S35 format sensor, the CMOS sensor is 2.25 times larger, the exposure area is bigger, the single pixel pitch is larger, the SNR is better, thus  the picture is cleaner. You can use cinema lenses designed for large format like MAVO Prime, CP3, Cooke S7i, Arri Signature Prime, but also a large number of existing full-frame still camera lenses. THE MAVO image sensor has an 3:2 aspect ratio. Anamorphic lenses will work perfectly together  with MAVO’s 6:5 or 4:3 modes. You can shoot 6K up to 75fps. In crop mode, 4K Wide is up to 150fps in 2k up to 290fps!

Here you’ll find our first addition to this LUT (look up table) section, namely the Gafpa Gear ETTL luts (expose to the left). These Luts are intended as exposure Luts and work the best on the Kinefinity MAVO LF and MAVOs35. Please note that ettl+0 is the same is the standard inbuild kineneutm lut, but its better to upload them all (so include ettl+0 ) so they appear in a much better order (much easier to toggle through).

Start with getting yourself familiar with ettl+1 first.  According to us and most people who tested it, its a much better balance between highlights and shadows. The Lut will force you to underexpose by one stop by displaying the image one stop brighter.

When the camera is proper black balanced, you wont have any issues, and win one extra stop of dynamic range.

The other more extreme ETTL Luts (+2 and +3) are to confidently monitor your shadows when you go extreme with underexposing your sensor. it will give you a good idea of how much you sacrifice in shadow detail. We consider Ettl +3 to be an experimental LUT and you shouldn’t use it to monitor your exposure if you haven’t made yourself familiar with +1 and +2 first. Its much preferred to bypass all other exposure functions inside your camera which means: shoot in iso ISO mode  (800 or 5120 on the Mavo LF) and use Highlightstops 4.3 by default.

                            Kinefinity Firmware Instructions

PREPARATION:

  • Remove lens and make sure the camera is powered by stable source for more than one hour, AC power adapter is suggested.

STEPS:

  • Turn on the camera, insert the FAT/FAT32 USB stick containing new firmware, choose to upgrade firmware by [Config–>System–>Upgrade];

  • Some Kine accessories have their own firmware which needs to be upgraded with each new firmware version. When camera body is fully upgraded, please add all your Kine accessories like KineMON, EVF, sidegrip, KineBACK-W, and ALL lens adapters individually and upgrade again. Firmware-mismatch between camera body and accessories may introduce some bugs.

Kinefinity Europe Warranty Policy

1. The warranty period is two years (24 months) after the date of sale of the product.

2. The following conditions must be met for the warranty to be valid:

1) The camera body serial number is the same as the serial number of the internal firmware;

2) The defect is not caused by user inflicted damage or negligence (i.e.: physical impact, water damage, extreme heat or fire, lightning strikes, improper use of electricity, etc.) or natural disasters.

3. Warranty is not valid in the following situations:

1) Unauthorised repair, misuse, collision, negligence, abuse, liquid injection, accident, alteration, quality problems caused by improper installation, or tearing, alteration of label, serial number, anti-counterfeiting mark;

2) The unit is faulty if it is combined with third-party accessories and accessories that have not been certified by the manufacturer;

3) Failure to use or keep in accordance with the requirements of the product description.

5. Warranty claims must be reported after the damage is noticed. User or dealer must provide all the information as required by Kinefinity-Europe’s service staff.

6. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any other loss caused by the malfunction of their products, nor for any civil and criminal liability arising therefrom.

7. The user shall not disassemble the products in any way, attempt to crack the firmware of the machine, and communicate the firmware of the machine or the corresponding software (i.e. KineStation) to others without the written permission of the manufacturer. In case of violation, the manufacturer refuses to provide any after-sales service and warranty service, and the user bears all legal consequences arising therefrom.

8. The following situations are not covered by the warranty:

1) Mechanical damage to the surface of the image sensor inside the camera unit, including scratches;

2) The defects of the image sensor inside the machine after use, such as dead pixels and bad lines;

3) Physical damage to the camera due to human factors;

4) Physical damage to the camera due to force majeure (accidents, disasters, wars, earthquakes, etc.);

5) The port is burnt due to leakage of the power supply (not well grounded);

6) The camera is damaged due to excessive input voltage.

9. Parts that have been replaced by the limited warranty are not returned to the user.

10. Shipping cost to and from dealer or service centre are at user’s charge. Dealer, distributor or manufacturer are not responsible for any damage or loss occurring during the shipment to and from dealer or service centre of repaired/replaced parts.

11. If the contents of this clause are inconsistent with the national regulations. The national regulations shall prevail.

12. For products by other manufacturers (i.e. Movcam) delivered together with Kinefinity products, the warranty policy provided by their respective manufacturers shall prevail.

MAVO S35

The MAVO s35mm features a high-speed & low noise 6K CMOS image sensor, with a S35 image format (crop factor of 1.5 over FF). S35 MAVO employs an S35 CMOS image sensor, 3:2 aspect ratio, 24x16mm, resolution up to 6016×4016. Anamorphic lenses also work with MAVO’s 6:5 or 4:3 modes perfectly. At the S35m format, you can shoot 6K up to 50fps; for 6K Wide up to 66fps. In crop mode, 4K Wide is up to 100fps in 2k up to 192fps!

The MAVO S35 sensor size can be virtually enlarged by the use of Kinefinity’s own speedbooster to a crop factor of 1.0 (FF).

The MAVO s35mm has around 14+ stops of latitude, pleasing skin tones and shadow details are reserved perfectly. The OLPF is designed to retain a maximum amount of sharpness but at the same time  get rid of any Moire or aliasing.

The Mavo camera body weighs only 920g, and its size and weight is only a fraction of the other so-called ‘MINI cameras’ in the cinema market.

The MAVO is a modular camera and can be fully rigged up as a full feature cinema camera or shrunken down for light weight gimbal work. Due to the same form factor and connections All the TERRA Accessories will work with the MAVO camera line.

TERRA 4K

The TERRA 4K is the entry model of the Kinefinity camera line.The TERRA features a high-speed & dual-iso 4K CMOS image sensor, with a sub-S35 image format (crop factor of 1.85 over FF).

The TERRA sensor size can be virtually enlarged by the use of Kinefinity’s own speedbooster to a crop factor of 1.3.

the TERRA 4K can record 4K wide up to 150fps and up to 320fps in 2k. At the same time, its rolling shutter effect is very low (8ms) and comparable to the Arri Alexa (6ms) and much better than cameras like the Sony Fs7 (15ms) or Blackmagic Ursa (16.3ms).

The Terra has two analogue gain circuits, supporting you with two native iso’s : 800 and 3200 iso. Due to its dual iso mode, the camera can create very low noise images at 3200 iso.

The Terra can Record in open gate  mode (1.5 aspect) giving you more vertical resolution than 4k DCI. Therefore the TERRA is perfect for anamorphic lens shooters.

TERRA camera body weighs only 920g, and its size and weight is only a fraction of the other so-called MINI cameras in the cinema market.

The TERRA records in all sorts of ProRes flavors, on industry standard cost effective ssd 2.5 inch.
