What EAGLE firmware 2.2 adds
The update adds log-to-Rec.709 monitoring for supported Sony, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Nikon and Canon log formats. It also improves focus sharpening, false-colour guidance, magnification indicators, colour adjustment, screen saving and the retention of assist-tool settings.
Fixes address image alignment, Canon EOS C80 SDI timecode display, occasional HDMI stuttering at 59.94fps and update stability. See the official EAGLE 2.2 release notes and download for the exact supported formats and full details.
How to update EAGLE HDMI or SDI firmware
Check the installed version first. Units running a version earlier than kvf_1.01_0324 require that intermediate update before the latest release. If the required intermediate file is unavailable, contact support before proceeding.
Place only one viewfinder firmware file in the root of a FAT/FAT32/exFAT USB drive. Insert it into the powered-on EVF’s USB-C socket and choose Menu → Settings → Firmware Update. The official procedure takes about 3–5 minutes and restarts the viewfinder automatically. Do not interrupt power or operate the device during installation.
Use the official EAGLE firmware index to confirm the current release and compatibility. Camera firmware for VISTA or MAVO is not a substitute for EAGLE firmware.
Earlier EAGLE firmware releases
Firmware 2.1
The 2.1 release added HDMI timecode, audio-meter and recording-status display support for compatible cameras, including supported Sony and Canon models. It also improved USB-drive compatibility, updating, button response and general stability.
Firmware 2.0
Our original November 2024 article covered SDI focus-assist improvements, SDI metadata display, exFAT support and Overlay Clear. That information is release history; 2.0 is no longer the newest EAGLE firmware. Kinefinity now marks it as archived.
Check the viewfinder with your camera
Firmware is one part of the monitoring chain. The camera’s output settings, the connection and the viewfinder settings all matter. After updating, test the complete setup you will use on set.
- Check the installed version and confirm a stable image with your camera and cable.
- Check the camera’s output resolution and frame rate, then verify framing and any magnification settings.
- Test peaking, false colour and other exposure tools using a familiar scene.
- Check whether a display conversion is already applied by the camera before enabling another conversion in the EVF.
- Where supported, check timecode, audio meters and recording-status indicators while recording a short test clip.
A metadata feature in the release notes is not a guarantee that every camera outputs the same information. If an indicator is missing, note your camera model, output settings and EAGLE firmware version when asking for help.
