MAVO Edge and MAVO mark2 firmware downloads
Open the official KineOS 8.0 release and download page, then select the entry for your camera:
- MAVO Edge 6K: choose the Edge 6K download.
- MAVO Edge 8K: choose the Edge 8K download.
- MAVO mark2 LF and MAVO mark2 S35: use the MAVO mark2 entry and check the supplied instructions.
The original MAVO LF is a different camera generation. Do not choose a mark2 package simply because your camera says MAVO LF. VISTA also uses separate firmware.
What changed in KineOS 8.0?
Kinefinity highlights uncompressed DNG RAW recording, a BT.2020 colour-gamut option for ProRes, a revised interface and custom keys. Recording modes and frame rates depend on the camera and selected settings. The release also addresses media, playback, monitoring and calibration issues.

The English release instructions currently specify build 8110. They require two installations of that build, a restart after the first, then dark-field calibration and a factory reset. Follow the complete manufacturer procedure linked above.
For firmware older than 7.0 (7029), Kinefinity requires an intermediate upgrade path. Contact support before starting. Remove lenses, lens adapters and unnecessary accessories. Maintain uninterrupted power. The instructions specify FAT/FAT32/exFAT USB media and roughly 30 minutes for an upgrade.
Record your settings before starting: the required reset affects how the camera is configured. Do not replace the model-specific instructions with a generic “copy and reboot” procedure.
Earlier Kinefinity firmware releases
KineOS 7.3
The KineOS 7.3 release notes describe a revised playback interface, more flexible frame lines, a wider white-balance range, Wi-Fi access-point mode and clip recovery. This is an earlier release; check the current download page before deciding which version to install.
KineOS 7.2
KineOS 7.2 introduced pre-roll, exFAT recording media and Active E Mount support. Kinefinity now marks this version as discontinued. The archive is useful for understanding when features were introduced, rather than as a recommendation to downgrade.
Gafpa Gear’s checks before shooting
Back up footage before maintenance and allow time for a test with your actual shooting equipment. A successful installation is only the first check.
- Confirm the installed version and complete the required calibration and reset steps.
- Restore and check project frame rate, sensor mode, codec, shutter, white balance and LUT settings.
- Test your lens mount and electronic controls where applicable.
- Record, play back and import a short clip using the media and recording format planned for your next job.
- Check audio, timecode, SDI monitoring and your post-production colour workflow.
If something differs from your previous setup, note the model, version, recording mode and exact symptom before changing more settings. That gives us a useful starting point for troubleshooting.
