LOG-C LUTS

Here you’ll find the experimental Kinefinity KINELOG3 to ARRI LOG-C Luts. We will later come out with Powergrades so you don’t clamp or clip your data and you can individually change parameters on the node tree.

Disclaimer:

These Luts are still in their early stages, which means that we still have to test a few parameters and do some extra stress tests but we are pretty satisfied already.. We used The new OLPF ff3 from Kinefinity (read everything about it here on our blog) which has an other damping and color rendition than the standard one. We tried to make two Luts, one ETTL+1 (our favorite way of exposing the MAVOs) and one +0 which is basically normal exposure like the Kineneutm Lut but in this case with the Arri color matrix. Both the Arri and Mavo are seeing the world differently, this doesn’t only involve color matrix, but simply sensor science. The Mavo LF has a better (technically) Linear response than the Arri Alexa. A 100% match can never be achieved unless you do a custom tweak from shot per shot. We will do a test day Later this month, the more circumstances we have the better its to guess the color response, Matching also means compromising, so we blended it in a bit of taste. Anyhow please test them and send us some feedback. They work both for the Mavo LF and Mavo s35 and the Terra 4k will work to some degree though the Terra is a bit color blind if it goes for red hues.

Whats in the box?

As you can see there are tow versions of every Lut (+1 and +0), one is the camera Lut (GAFPA_LOGC+0 and +1) which you install inside your camera, and the other one (GAFPA_KineLog-to-ArriLog) is the grading Lut which only has the Kinelog3 to Arri Log-c curve, so you can add any Arri Lut you like on top of the conversion. The camera Lut has the Arri rec709 Lut baked in, which is a good starting point for a quick grade, but for those who are looking for a bit more stylish look the sky is the limit with the log conversion Lut.
